Industrial paper shredders are used when a standard office paper shredder is not large enough for the quantity of paper to be shredded.

If your office or company need to destroy more paper or material than exceeds what a regular office paper shredder can handle, you may want to consider an industrial paper shredder. These paper shredders were made to handle large stacks of paper 140 sheets or more and can even shred light plastics, books, and media depending on the model. Higher volumes of paper and other material can be destroyed with larger and more powerful steel cutting cylinders.

Several models of industrial paper shredders are equipped with conveyors, which will feed the material into the cutting blades, reducing risk to employees. As with office paper shredders, industrial paper shredders are available with strip or cross cut capability. In addition, there are some models that also have the capacity to bale the paper, which has been shredded, making it easier to carry, dispose of, or recycle.

A baler compact and secure the shredded paper in cubes, much the same as how hay or straw are baled. Balers make shredding documents cleaner and faster. Other options include vibrator or shakers, which make compacting of the paper easier, thus reducing the frequency the shredder container requires emptying.
